Today marks the first day of spring and it has announced itself with a gentle warming effect over the last few days. What fun to see life begin to grow, flowers begin to bloom and the feeling in the air change without much effort. Spring also seems to bring about a change of food cravings – [...] “Today is my daughter’s birthday”. She said this as tears formed in her eyes. “I didn’t make her a cake. She asked about it, and I told her we were going to a party better than a cake at home”. The little girl was getting her face painted with a candy cane on her right [...] As a child, did you ever play in the dirt? Lucky for me, I did! Before the backyard was given access through the side gate, there was a small area of dirt. Twice, my mother took a hose to this patch and made mud. I was given the opportunity to play in that mud, on [...] If you don’t know by now, I drink coffee every morning. In the winter, I drink a cup of hot chocolate or hot tea just about every night. I love the feeling a warm cup brings to your hands and how the hot liquid makes you feel all the way inside. Since being here in Peru, [...] I have tried coffee in many parts of the world and in many parts of Peru. I certainly have a fondness for Colombian coffee. It was the first South American country I traveled to as part of a Christian Missions Team in 1993. Some thought the double whammy constituted double the presents and some thought it meant one present double the size, or was it double the cost? No, not the local supermarket. I am talking about the ENTIRE COUNTRY OF PERU! That’s right, we are having a NATIONWIDE CENSUS today. Truthfully, I think it is more funny than bothersome.
