Most of the TWD bakers are presenting a delicious looking chocolate cake today. I promise, I bought everything for it. But see, here’s what’s going on. You remember how I packed up my life in Peru and moved it to the US just a couple of weeks ago? Yeah, that’s what’s going on…still.
Things are still settling. Some days I am inspired to jump into the kitchen full force, and other days I am sad not to be in my small apartment kitchen of Peru. There are days when I enjoy the fun of eating American food and nights like last night when I could have cried because all I wanted was a delicious Peruvian stew.
So, bear with me. I baked these up for you a while ago. I knew there would be days like this, that I could get the ingredients from the bag to the oven in time to share with you on a Tuesday. Hopefully one of these delicious citrus-scented, tart-raspberry-filled, buttermilk-based goodies will help you pass the time until I can make that delicious chocolate cake.
I know some of you rescind the idea of chocolate and prunes together, while I find it intriguing. I am awfully excited to see how it turns out. Can I offer a suggestion though? If you have any leftover “dried plums,” maybe you could do me a favor and bake up a dish of this? It may better help you understand what I am missing.
Orange Berry Muffins are being served up for Tuesdays With Dorie Rewind! ThisĀ TWD recipe was chosen by Michelle of Brown Eyed Baker (where you will find the recipe). Enjoy some of the regular scheduled Chocolate Armagnac Cake by visiting the blogroll at the Tuesdays With Dorie website. Or, see what other goodies we have enjoyed on past weeks!

I could only imagine the rollercoaster of emotions you must be feeling. I’ve lived in a few different countries and, although I was not there as long as you were in Peru, I always would go through huge waves of sadness, but then be excited to be home and experience all of the things that I was missing.
oh, these were tasty muffins! i hope you are getting re-acclimated to life back here…i know it is hard, especially after having called somewhere else home for so many years.

I think fresh orange zest adds such flavor and aroma to baked goods. Just looking at the pic of the orange is making my mouth water!
